Groundwater Quality and Sustainability Evaluation for Irrigation Purposes: A Case Study in an Arid Region, Iraq

Water resources are of great importance in the world's agriculture, especially regarding scarcity these resources. That calls for attention appropriate analysis, study, and research all issues aspects that would contribute to development maintenance those achieve maximum possible levels quality efficiency use. The study was conducted during fall season 2020 groundwater (well water) city Al-Qaim Anbar Province explain its suitability agricultural exploitation region. included seven sites (Rtemi, Medicis, Eastern Akash, Okesha, Sawab, Albu-Hayat, Al-Karah) assess validity irrigation. pH, Electrical conductivity (EC), positive ions (K+, Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+), negative (HCO3, Cl-2, SO4) CO3 were measured. results showed studied well water is acceptable irrigation purposes terms pH value, as electrical connection, it six wells within class (C2), which adequate medium-salty crops, except one well, a fine C3 suitable high salinity crops. total hardness values low did not pose any risk; ions, they permissible limits specified classifications.
